With bank’s anticipating a rate rise in early 2026, Flakus & Associates have noticed that lenders this week have now increased their Fixed Home Loan Rates across the board.
This increase is usually a forerunner to potential variable rate increases in early 2026, and is on the back of the Reserve Bank Governor’s comments recently whereby inflation is still a concern.
The Reserve Banks next meeting is in February 2026 and we await the outcome .
Also, no doubt their lenders will review and adjust their serviceability and assessment criteria and could include updated Household Living Expenses. This could potentially reduce the applicants borrowing capacity. More information is expected to follow in early 2026.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
